events | | Mtiebi, the extraordinary Georgian choir from Tbilisi... |
| | Brilliant News ! MTIEBI,The Georgian Choir founded by Edisher Garakanidze and now led by his son Gigi, is coming to the WMC on Sunday June 2nd. They will be running a workshop from 2.30 - 5.30, followed by a performance at 7.30 , both in The Weston Studio.
For those who enjoyed Helen Chadwick`s project FEAST, organized by the WNO and which preceded their production of `Belshazar`s Feast` in the vast foyer of the WMC, this would be a wonderful opportunity to `drink at the source` of these extraordinary , unique 3 part harmonies.
Georgia still enjoys and celebrates its hugely oral culture, with songs that reflect every aspect of life: birth , death, work, healing, feasting (the list is endless) and of course their deeply felt religious beliefs: theirs is an orthodox Christian society, having converted in the 4th Century.
Please don`t miss this rare opportunity to share in their heartfelt harmonies...
Workshop participants are also being offered concessions for the Concert.
Workshop £10 Concert £10 (both £18)
Tickets available from the WMC Box Office 08700 40 20 00
